Contact the teamProduct & choice How do I choose the right PAWPRO model for my dog?
The right collar depends on 3 criteria that always need to be considered together: your main goal (recall · barking · runaway behaviour · general obedience), your dog's temperament and size (breed, weight, sensitivity), and your ethical position on electric stimulation (accepted or excluded).
Our range is designed to cover 100% of use cases with 6 different models. Rather than reading specifications to you, let our smart configurator pick the right model for you in 60 seconds — it uses exactly the same questioning protocol a dog trainer uses in a first consultation.
Expert tip: never choose a training collar based on price or looks alone. A poorly calibrated collar for your dog can destroy the trust between owner and dog in just 2 sessions. A well-chosen collar transforms the relationship in 30 days.
Product & choice What's the concrete difference between Ultimate, Ultimate Shock-Free, Alpha1, Alpha2, Antibark and PP6?
The 6 models are each tailored to a specific owner profile. The most useful split for your decision:
- PAWPRO Ultimate — the flagship for training with safe electric stimulation. 4 modes (BIP · vibration · stimulation · LED night light), 124 progressive levels, 3 km range, dual channel for 2 dogs. The trainers' choice for complex cases (runaway behaviour, aggression, recall around wildlife).
- PAWPRO Ultimate Shock-Free — all the flagship specs (3 km, 124 levels, dual channel, LED night light), BUT 100% without electric current. Anticipates the French animal-welfare bill. The ethical premium standard.
- PAWPRO Alpha1 — affordable shock-free training. 3 modes (BIP · vibration · boost vibration), 40 progressive levels, 3 km range. For owners who choose the ethical option without compromising on range.
- PAWPRO Alpha2 — anti-bark 100% automatic and shock-free. Driven by artificial intelligence with microphone and sensors, colour display, magnetic charging. 97% verified success rate.
- PAWPRO Antibark Vet-Recommended — the smart anti-bark collar with an owner tracking mode (records up to 99 barking episodes to identify triggers). 4 modes with automatic escalation. Recommended by our network of veterinarians for chronic cases.
- PAWPRO PP6 — the complete French training solution with stimulation. 3 modes (BIP · vibration · stimulation across 16 levels), 1,000 m range, integrated safety lock. Bundle includes a clicker and wrist strap. Unbeatable price-quality ratio.
In one sentence: training + stimulation accepted → Ultimate or PP6. Training + shock-free → Alpha1 or Ultimate Shock-Free. Barking + shock-free → Alpha2. Barking + serious chronic case → Antibark.
Product & choice Why a PAWPRO collar rather than a basic €30 collar?
Fair question. Here are the 3 technical reasons (no marketing) that make the difference in real use:
- Calibration granularity. A basic collar offers 1 to 18 levels with linear escalation. PAWPRO Ultimate offers 124 progressive levels with a non-linear intensity curve. Direct consequence: you find exactly the level your dog responds to — not above (= startles, trust breaks), not below (= filters out the signal, the signal loses its effect). This is the difference between a surgical instrument and a sledgehammer.
- Radio signal stability. Basic collars often lose signal in wooded or urban areas after just 100–200 m. PAWPRO holds a 3 km range measured in open terrain with reinforced antenna. An unreliable signal = a dog who learns that "it sometimes works, sometimes not" — worse than no collar at all.
- Post-purchase guidance. Our PAWPRO Method™ (48 pages, 28 breeds, 30-day protocol) is included in every package. A collar without method is like a musical instrument without a score. That's exactly what makes the difference between a 30% success rate (collar alone) and a 90% success rate (collar + method).
And on service: in-house team, reachable within 2 business hours, 2-year warranty as standard. With basic collars you get 6 months warranty and an offshore ticket service.
Product & choice I have 2 dogs — which PAWPRO solution is right?
Good news: our training models Ultimate, Ultimate Shock-Free and Alpha1 have a true dual channel — the remote controls 2 collars independently and simultaneously, up to 3 km range. You buy the main bundle with one collar, then add an extra collar of the same model. One remote, two dogs trained independently.
Best practice (validated by our trainer partners):
- Calibrate each dog individually — a level that works for the dominant male is never the right one for the more sensitive female. Note the 2 reference levels
- Train the basics in the first 2 weeks one-by-one, before moving to joint work
- Use the pack effect to your advantage: a dog who sees the other return on recall internalises the command through social mimicry — paradoxically, joint training accelerates certain progress
For the anti-bark models (Alpha2, Antibark), which work automatically without a remote, each dog needs its own device. Multi-dog bundles are available — contact us for the matching discount.
Product & choice Is it really effective without electric stimulation?
Honest answer from real use: yes, in 90% of cases. Here's the field truth we observe across more than 12,000 supported dogs:
- For general training (recall, leash walking, calm with visitors, house-training) — BIP + vibration is enough in nearly every case, provided it's correctly calibrated and combined with a structured protocol
- For compulsive barking — the automatic shock-free approach (Alpha2 AI) achieves a 97% verified success rate. Electric shock adds nothing and often destroys trust
- For extreme cases with critical stakes (running into roads, aggression toward other dogs, strong prey drive) — calibrated electric stimulation remains the fastest and most effective tool when used by a trained owner. That covers around 10% of cases
Our proprietary innovations Boost Vibration (on the Alpha1) and Reinforced Vibration (on the Ultimate Shock-Free) are designed specifically to cover what would otherwise call for stimulation — completely without electric current. A more powerful, more pronounced, fully painless vibration that reaches even a very distracted dog.
Our conviction: electric stimulation is never a shortcut. The right collar is the one that matches your use case and your personal ethics. Both count.
Product & choice Which complementary accessories do you recommend?
Three accessories really change the daily effectiveness of training in a tangible way:
- The PAWPRO 2-in-1 whistle and clicker — essential for positive reinforcement. The collar signals what not to do, the clicker marks what to do. Both together = 4× faster than the collar alone. See the whistle with clicker
- A 5–10 m long line (purchased separately from a specialist retailer). Essential for the first 4 weeks: your dog feels free, but stays under your physical control if a recall fails
- A good selection of high-quality treats (sliced ham, cheese, dried liver). The collar NEVER replaces reward. Ideal ratio: 1 collar correction for every 5 positive rewards
And for spare parts (remote, cables, contact pins, extra collar for a 2nd dog), everything is available in our dedicated spares section. Original warranty, ships in 24h.
Safety & well-being Is it painful for my dog?
No — and that's exactly why we offer 124-level granularity. The dog should never flinch or yelp on activation: if that happens, it's a sign of incorrect level calibration, not the product itself.
The golden rule our trainer partners apply in consultation:
- Always start with the BIP-only (mode 1) — often enough after a few days of learning. If there's a response = stay in this mode
- If there's no response to the BIP: move to soft vibration (level 3–5/16) — perceived like a smartphone vibration. Increase by 1 level every 5 seconds until you notice a slight behavioural hesitation (the ear turns, the gaze comes back to you)
- Electrostatic stimulation (on shock-capable models) is used only as a last resort for behaviours with critical stakes. Start at level 5–10/99 — never higher without observing the response
Perceived comparison, as our customers report: level 1–15 = sensation of a firm touch. Level 15–40 = light pinch (standard working range). Beyond that = exceptional range, reserved for safety situations (running into the road, imminent attack).
Safety & well-being Will my dog become afraid of the collar or of me?
PAWPRO is engineered to preserve and reinforce trust. Here are the 4 essential best practices our partner trainers apply in consultation:
- Punishing a behaviour after the fact. The dog can no longer connect things after more than 2 seconds. You lose them by teaching them to fear you without understanding why
- Triggering during legitimate territorial barking (unexpected visitor, intruder). You destroy their guard role and their protective instinct
- Using the collar when you're upset. Your tension transfers to the activation, the chosen level is too strong. The dog associates the correction with your emotional state, not the behaviour
- Letting the collar be worn 24h/24h. For neck comfort and wellbeing: maximum 8 consecutive hours, remove at night
With correct use, it's exactly the opposite: trust between owner and dog is reinforced, because the dog quickly understands the rules, gains behavioural confidence and becomes more relaxed knowing what to do in every situation. Our 30-day PAWPRO Method integrates this approach from day 1.
Safety & well-being My dog is anxious / has a difficult past — is it compatible?
Nuanced and honest answer. For an anxious, traumatised dog, or one with a difficult past:
- The training collar can help, provided 3 rules are respected: (1) start with BIP-only mode for at least 2 weeks, (2) move to vibration only if the BIP has become ineffective, (3) introduce stimulation only after consulting a behavioural specialist among veterinarians
- Our clear recommendation for this profile: model Alpha1 or Ultimate Shock-Free (zero electric current). The Boost Vibration / Reinforced Vibration technology is designed precisely for cases where a clear response is needed in complete emotional safety, without reawakening anything
- The order of actions should be: (1) veterinary behavioural consultation, (2) desensitisation work on the fear triggers, (3) only then introduce a collar as a complementary tool to the behavioural method
What we never do: prescribe a collar as the first and only solution for an anxious dog. If you're unsure, write to us — our customer-support team is trained to refer you, where needed, to a behavioural specialist among veterinarians.
Safety & well-being From what age can you start?
There's no legal minimum age, but our practical recommendations are based on more than 12,000 cases supported:
- Before 4 months: a precious window for neurological socialisation — the ideal time for clicker, treats and structured play. PAWPRO takes over from 4 months onwards
- 4 to 6 months: exclusively BIP alone (level 1–2), short sessions of 5 minutes maximum. We establish the grammar of the signal, not correction
- 6 to 12 months: soft vibration possible (levels 1–5/16) on basic recall, complementary to the positive clicker
- Adult (12 months and older): full use following the 30-day protocol of the PAWPRO Method
For sensitive breeds (Cavalier, Yorkshire, Bichon, Chihuahua, Pug): systematically start with BIP level 1–2 only and never move to vibration without first testing the BIP for a full week.
Special case — seniors: dogs from 10 years old have declining hearing sensitivity — the BIP can become ineffective. Prefer soft vibration. Avoid electric stimulation without veterinary advice.
Safety & well-being Is PAWPRO suitable for a dog with a medical condition?
No at standard usage levels — and here are the technical foundations:
- The electrostatic stimulation on our shock-capable models works on the same physical principle as a static discharge from touching a carpet (medical TENS at very low intensity). Physiological tolerance fully validated by CE standards at standard usage levels, with no cardiac or neurological incidence
- The vibration and BIP models emit no electric current at all. Full physiological tolerance — it's simply mechanical vibration or sound
- Absolute precautions in the following cases: known cardiac dog (consult vet first), epileptic dog (vibration/BIP models only, never stimulation), dog with a pacemaker (expressly contraindicated)
Our recommendation: if your dog has a medical history, get advice from your vet before purchase. Our customer-support team can also advise you on the most suitable model (often Alpha1 or Alpha2 shock-free) — reply within 2 business hours.
Method & training How long until visible results?
For an adult dog with no behavioural pathology following the 30-day protocol of the PAWPRO Method:
- Week 1 — settling in + first reflex on the BIP at home or in a fenced garden
- Week 2 — recall in calm environment learned (empty park, woods without wildlife): 7–8 out of 10 successes
- Week 3 — recall in moderately distracting environment learned (park with other dogs in the distance): 8–9 out of 10
- Week 4 — recall in complex environment learned (high stimulus density): 9 out of 10
Longer cases (60–90 days) are to be expected for: hunting dogs with strong prey drive (Beagle, Pointer, Setter), late-adopted dogs (3 years+) with a repeated runaway past, cases of strong reactivity (aggression toward other dogs).
Realistic: no method — not even PAWPRO — works miracles in 7 days on a dog who has been running away for 3 years. But within 30 to 90 days depending on the case, yes: clear and lasting improvement. If nothing moves after 90 days, there's an underlying factor (pain, old fear, thyroid pathology) — consult a behavioural specialist among veterinarians.
Method & training My dog isn't progressing — what to do?
Very common case — especially after 2–3 weeks of use. Before increasing intensity (the worst solution), check these 5 points in this order:
- Is the signal linked to anything? If you've used the BIP for weeks without consequence or systematic reward, the dog has "filtered it out". A re-association is needed: BIP → clear command → reward, 10 repetitions per day for 1 week
- Is the context too stimulus-heavy? A Beagle 30 m from a wildlife trail literally hears nothing more — it's physiological, not bad will. Train in calm first before making it more complex
- Is the calibration right? Repeat the test: the level at which you observe a slight behavioural hesitation (the ear turns, the gaze comes back). Above that, you're being abrupt. Below, there's no signal
- Are you regular? 3 mini-sessions of 5 minutes per day far beat 1 session of 1 hour on Sunday. Regularity beats intensity
- Is there a medical factor? Hypothyroidism, back pain, dental problems — many "resistances" are in fact pain expressions the dog can't communicate any other way
If after these 5 checks nothing happens, contact our customer-support team — personal reply within 2 business hours with a structured diagnosis of your case.
Method & training What does a typical training day look like?
The daily protocol our trainer partners recommend — 3 mini-sessions of 5 minutes that beat 1 weekly session of 1 hour:
- Morning (5 min) — recall at home or in the garden · 5 repetitions · systematic reward · no collar needed at the start
- Lunch/evening walk — 1 or 2 recalls in real conditions during the walk · heel walking maximum 50 m · no longer
- Evening (5 min) — focused exercise of the day per the PAWPRO Method (calm with visitors, hold the down-stay, place command, etc.)
What you should NEVER do:
- Sessions of 30+ minutes — the dog is saturated after 8–10 minutes of concentration. You burn them out psychologically
- Working with a tired dog who has just eaten or is on an emotional high
- Skipping 2–3 days then "catching up" — regularity beats intensity, always
- Training 2 dogs together before each one masters it solo (you confuse all the signals)
The 48-page PAWPRO Method, included with every package, describes the protocol day-by-day over 30 days, with adjustments for 28 specific breeds.
Method & training How do you treat compulsive barking lastingly?
Compulsive barking is never just a behaviour to correct — it's almost always the symptom of a discomfort or an unmet need. Our 3-level approach:
- Level 1 — diagnose the triggers. Our Antibark Vet-Recommended model integrates an owner tracking mode recording up to 99 barking episodes to identify patterns (times, context, repetition). You understand why your dog barks before trying to suppress it
- Level 2 — progressive automatic correction. On the anti-bark models (Alpha2 AI or Antibark) 3 to 4 modes with automatic escalation: preventive BIP → vibration warning → (stimulation as a last resort, only on the Antibark). The dog learns by themselves, without human intervention — therefore with perfect emotional stability
- Level 3 — deeper work. If the barking persists after 4 weeks, address the underlying cause: boredom (increase physical and mental activity), separation anxiety (progressive desensitisation) or pain (veterinary consultation)
Our conviction: an anti-bark collar is a tool, not a solution. Real success comes from combining smart tool + identifying causes + behavioural work. That's exactly what our method offers.
Method & training Why combine the collar with clicker / positive reinforcement?
This is the difference between training that lasts and training that crumbles. Here's the pedagogical logic:
- The collar sends the signal "this behaviour is NOT the right one" — that's negative information for the dog
- The clicker / whistle / cheerful voice / treat sends the signal "this behaviour IS the right one" — that's positive information
- Without the positive, the dog only learns to avoid — not to act. The result: they become cautious, attentive, but not joyful in execution. And they forget quickly, because the brain better retains what brings joy
The ideal ratio from real practice we recommend: 1 collar correction for every 5 positive rewards. This produces a dog who is at once obedient and balanced — not just compliant.
Our PAWPRO 2-in-1 whistle and clicker is designed precisely for this. Compatible with all our models, usable from day 1 of the 30-day protocol.

Support & warranty My collar isn't working properly — what to do?
3 quick checks before anything else — solve 80% of cases in 5 minutes:
- Fully charged? Orange LED flashes during charging, lit steadily when fully charged. Full charge in 2h via USB. If charging doesn't start, try another cable (the USB cable is a wear part)
- Pairing OK? On models with a remote: turn both devices off, wait 10 seconds, turn them back on and pair them per the manual (sync button held 3 seconds — green LED confirms pairing)
- Correct skin–electrode contact? The collar must be set so a single finger fits between strap and skin. The electrodes must touch the skin directly (not the fur). For very long fur, shave a 1 cm² area at the neck for contact
If none of that helps: send an email to contact@pawpro.eu with your order number, a precise description of the malfunction, and ideally a short video. Reply within 2 business hours, diagnosis within 24h, guaranteed resolution within 5 business days.
